Telegram: Communication and information tool in learning

Social media platform in general is the most effective tool for teaching and learning in this evolving digital landscape. Among various social media tools, Telegram is multifunctional communication platform that can be integrated in both personal and academic activities.

Telegram is the communication tool that stands out the most to me as it proves to be high- quality, technically advanced, and logically structured ict tool that supports both academic and personal communication at the same time. Firstly, Telegram is known for high – speed messaging capabilities, high storage that helps me in exchanging visual ads, audios and larger sized documents without much of difficulties.  Telegram also has feature like group video chat that support quick meeting if necessary for academic purpose and telegrambot that allow one to join zoom meeting directly from telegram making it easier and convenient.  It also has encryption which is reliable because even visually disabled can get access to the shared information. When it comes to personal use telegram is accessible through multiple devices without losing its’ function and information thus making it flexible for me to log in through various device during emergencies. It also adds friends automatically as per my contact list thus making it convenient as I don’t have to go through series of struggles to search for the person like in other social platforms. For personal entertainment I can browse for movies and join group that shares the same interest as mine to interact with people from all around the world.

(voice, files, links, entertainment)

Telegram is cloud – based infrastructure ensures data reliability and file sharing capabilities support multimedia exchange. In addition to that the group admin and poll features enhance engagements, creating structured and effective virtual learning environment. It also has privacy setting by which we can secure our information by hiding our information from specific group of people. It also has setting for reporting harmful sites or violating its guidelines.

(Poll )

As a user of telegram, I can say that telegram is one of the most effective ict / social media that supports not only one but both synchronous and Asynchronous interactions. Synchronous because it allows group video chat, voice call, voice message, texts and polls for real time interaction. While on other hand it also supports Asynchronous as other party can respond whenever they are ready for to answer the question. This also means it provides equity as slow learners can learn it on their own pace and take time to process the information. Since telegram has one on one conversation feature, it’d be easier for introvert students to interact and share their ideas directly to the educators or the admin of the group.

In conclusion, telegram is most preferable ict tool in evolving digital landscape as it supports Synchronous and Asynchronous interaction. It can support from small discussion like personal chat to big as group chat / meeting virtually. However, misuse and distraction from social engagement has effect on academic productivity and for some advanced feature we need premium thus that’s another challenge.
